About Us

Welcome to Professional Tax of Arab, we provide a full range of tax preparation, bookkeeping services (either in your facility or ours), sales tax preparation, payroll services and notary services.

ProTax has been providing dependable, friendly tax prep services for over 25 years — with both the original owner and now myself. My success has been built on several factors that make us different from seasonal tax chains and other CPA firms.

We are open year round, so we are Tax Professionals, not seasonal employees. Our clients matter to us. We look forward to seeing you each year. We work hard to maximize your refund or minimize your balance due. We stand behind our work, and we are here all year to back it up.

Sheila M Sutton, EA  (Owner)

I am a Graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a Master’s Degree in Speech Communication.  I am an Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (IRS EA)**, January 2012.    I am an active member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, (NATP),  National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) with membership in the Alabama Society of Enrolled Agents (ALSEA), the National Society of Tax Professionals (NSTP), the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW), the American Association of Notaries (AAN) and a member in good standing with the Better Business Bureau of North Alabama (BBB). I am currently serving my fourth year on the Alabama Chapter NATP Board of Directors, and I am currently serving as the 2016 AL NATP Education Director.

I was a college instructor until I began my Tax Career in 2004 at Professional Tax, owned by Robert King, EA, in Arab, AL. I worked as a Tax Professional and Responsible Party until I bought the business in 2008. I regularly attend continuing education classes sponsored by the IRS, NATP, and NAEA. My specialty is providing tax related services for small businesses and farms.

**Enrolled Agent:  An enrolled agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the Internal Revenue Service. Enrolled agents, like attorneys and certified public accountants (CPAs), are unrestricted as to which taxpayers they can represent, what types of tax matters they can handle, and which IRS offices they can represent clients before.” (irs.gov)
